Five before Midnight

This site is dedicated to the continuous oversight of the Riverside(CA)Police Department, which was formerly overseen by the state attorney general. This blog will hopefully play that role being free of City Hall's micromanagement.

From whence shall come police accountability in Riverside?

The consent decree is set to expire in 192 days, or, six months and 11 days.

With time ticking until the end of the consent decree between the State Attorney General's office and the city of Riverside, this is a question that even after five years still begs an answer...

The answer is, there is no mechanism of accountability in place.

Many people in Riverside, representing all political stripes may disagree with this assessment. But the facts are, is that very little has changed inside the police department since the city entered into a stipulated agreement with the state in 2001.

Perhaps you should post your name so the Riverside Police Officers, whom you cowardly slam behind a veil of anonymity, will know where to find you. I'd be glad to meet with you and discuss any issues you have with my department and my co-workers.

P.S. I'm a little hurt you dont have anything written about me. Not only am I white with a shaved head, but I've had several complaints and uses of force incidents involving people who were not white. Check your CPRC files and let me know what you think of my work.

Yours Truly,
Kevin, R.P.D.

Dear Kevin:

Perhaps you should print your true first name on your postings and not borrow one that may be used by some of your colleagues who are not here. Then we can talk about holding a meeting about your history in the RPD.

have a nice day,

p.s. the description of you being bald is perhaps not as helpful as you intended it to be since that puts you in a rather large group. Could you be a bit more specific?
